FATAL OFFICER-INVOLVED SHOOTING IN HUGHES, ARKANSAS ON CHRISTMAS EVE

A devastating incident occurred on Christmas Eve in Hughes, Arkansas, resulting in the death of 26-year-old Allie Kundert of Cross County. The Arkansas State Police (ASP) are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding the fatal shooting, which took place outside the Hughes Church of God on Main Street.

At approximately 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, December 24, 2024, the Hughes Police Department (HPD) and the St. Francis County Sheriff’s Office (SFCSO) responded to reports of a woman causing a disturbance near the church while armed with a firearm. Upon arrival, officers encountered Kundert, leading to a fatal confrontation.

Kundert’s body has been transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death.
