A devastating car accident occurred in suburban Lake County on Tuesday evening, resulting in the tragic death of 22-year-old Axel Maldonado Guerrero. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office reported that the incident happened in unincorporated Lake Villa around 7:30 p.m..
According to eyewitnesses, the Jeep was traveling eastbound on West Engle Drive when it veered into the westbound lane and then back into the eastbound lane, ultimately leaving the road and colliding with a house. Guerrero, a passenger in the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by law enforcement officers.
Two others, including the driver, 31-year-old Marcos Corona-Vargas, were seriously injured in the crash and hospitalized.
Corona-Vargas has been charged with reckless homicide and driving while intoxicated in connection with the accident.
Fortunately, the house was unoccupied at the time of the incident, preventing further injuries or fatalities. The Lake County Sheriff’s Office is committed to maintaining safety and holding those responsible accountable for this tragic accident.
